The morning of the Rally Sprint started out hot and dusty, but with clouds on the horizon threatening rain.
With the objective of finding a spot other photographers/videographers would not, Charlie and I went adventuring, taking back roads to get behind the stage and up to Road Closure 2. Thanks to google maps and remarkable access to the internet we managed to find our way up hill and down dale, going the wrong way only once and never on the stage!
The views in the Brindabella’s were amazing (photos through the Van windscreen).
The corner we found was great, but difficult because the wind kept changing direction, so no where was safe to stand!
Nevertheless, after scrambling up into an opening in the trees, with not too many blackberries, I found a good spot to capture the fun.
Rally Sprints allow for more than one person to drive a Car, so check the number on the side of the car for who was driving (although some people forgot to change the tape over the numbers). Click the pictures to make them bigger.
Car 1 Adrian Coppin
Car 3 – lots of dust in the air at this point
Unfortunately – no more photos from this corner – cars off in the stage slowed the rest and we relocated to the spectator point.
While waiting to find out what had happened, I noticed this pair watching me from the branches above.
